The final days of the countdown toward Election Day have begun.
You can tell by the endless number of TV commercials for the many races and many issues.
Candidates and backers and opponents of the statewide propositions are spending a ton of money putting their messages into almost every commercial break on TV.
Reports say that a half a billion dollars have been spent on ads for just Propositions Prop 26 and 27 alone, the two opposing gambling measures on the ballot.
And candidates from local mayor to state assembly and senate to members of Congress, are spending a lot of money as well on getting their messages out to voters.
And with many completed mail in ballots already returned and in person voting at various locations getting underway, time is running out for these messages to reach the voters who haven’t yet made up their minds.
The majority of voters are mailing in or dropping off their ballots, ahead of Election Day November 8th. That’s the way it’s been in San Diego County for years.
So expect to be bombarded with more political commercials while watching TV over the next week and a half.
And as irritating as that might be, it is important to vote. It has, can and does make a difference.
