The San Diego Union Tribune’s top headline today reads; “Storm Dupes Forecasters, Dropping Far Less Snow and Rain Than Expected.”
Well the storm may not have left as much rain and snow as the forecasters thought it could, but we still had a lot of rain and a lot of snow and a lot of wind and even hail.
And it’s unlikely anyone is going to complain about not getting enough.
The series of storms we had over the past several days led to lots of crashes on the roadways, a good number of flooded streets and intersections, lots of trees and branches toppling and plenty of things blown around and knocked down in backyards across the county. And of course we’ve had to deal with the unusually cold weather these storms brought with high temps only in the upper 40s at times this last week.
So there was plenty to complain about even if the forecasters’ forecasts predicted more rain and snow than we got.
While the Los Angeles area was where a blizzard warning was posted for the first time since the late 1980’s, the National Weather Service says it’s been 10 years or more since we have had what we had in San Diego County over the five days.
But no matter how you describe it, we should be thankful for all the rain we got because we certainly needed it with the annual concerns about droughts.
