Remembering Those Who Run Toward Danger

The tragic story from Minnesota about the two police officers and a paramedic who were shot and killed after responding to a report of an armed man in a suburban home is sending shock waves among law enforcement officers and their families across the country today.

Two 27-year-old police officers and a 40-year-old paramedic were responding to trouble on a quiet early Sunday morning in a small suburban town when their lives suddenly ended when an evil man carried out an evil act but who is now dead.

Thanks to the efforts by all the law enforcement officers who were there, seven children inside the home with the armed man were saved from harm.

The title "first responders" means they are the first on the scene and just as those police officers at the Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting did last week, they run toward trouble, risking their lives, so that others are not hurt.

Being a cop these days arguably has never been more dangerous and at a time when those in law enforcement are being targeted for criticism far too often and far too unfairly.

And that’s why when something like what happened in Minnesota happens, we all should be thankful for all the first responders in the smallest towns to the biggest cities for their service and sometimes their sacrifice.
