That recent study on the equality of pay in the workplace between men and women has generated some talk about the differences between married couples at home.
Now, a new study has found that while much of the attention is usually focused on improving equality for women in society, researchers in this study say they found that men actually believe they’re the ones with less power.
The research team from several universities surveyed more than 800 Americans about the areas they consider most important in life, and asking about how much power each person felt they had over those aspects.
They found that while power is often connected to men who have either wealth or status, men perceive themselves as holding less power in private, regardless of public appearance.
The study’s authors say the men said they feel more powerful in public and they found that women view themselves as the stronger force at home.
The researchers did not use any specific definition of “power” but that came from the perceptions of the participants in the study.
So one person’s view of power may not be the same as another person’s view of what it means.
And that means the answer to differences in power is in the truth of the Golden Rule that says: Treat others as you would want to treated yourself.
