Why the 2024 Olympics Are Drawing More Attention

Every Olympics seems to have its controversies so it’s not surprising that these 2024 summer games in France have had some controversy. Part of the opening ceremonies was controversial..

But aside from the controversy, there is no debating how well the U.S team of athletes is doing at the 2024 Olympics.

In its reporting today, an Axios headline calls it an American gold rush.

The U.S. team doubled its total of gold medals Thursday a big day. And now has nine golds second only to China and the American athletes now have nearly 40 medals overall, with U.S. gymnast Simone Biles and U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky at the front of the medal competition.

And there is still a lot of competition still to go before these 2024 Olympics wrap up.

The U.S success so far is very welcome and comes at a good time in a year that has been and continues to be marked by political divisiveness and plenty of controversy.

So until the Olympic flame goes out at the end of all the competition, to have  the distraction of these Olympics and the U.S team doing so well are just what we needed in this very contentious year.
