Something to Think About as Your Kids Head Back to School

Going back to school this month is happening as a rise in COVD cases is happening in San Diego and up and down the state.

It’s not anywhere close to what the numbers were in 2020 and 2021, but county public health officials in San Diego and many other California counties have reported higher positive test rates the last several weeks.

So with classes resuming, there are increased concerns about prevention and treatment of COVID.

And these concerns come at a time when the impacts of the shutdown of schools during the pandemic are still having effects on kids’ learning and even mental health.

Studies have shown how many students are still behind now even after the pandemic has been over officially for some time.

So public health officials are urging parents and their kids to make sure they are vaccinated.

An updated COVID vaccine for the 2024-2025 school calendar year is due out as early as next month.

With older folks and those who are have health conditions that put them more at risk being urged to get the new shot, that could help prevent kids and grandkids from getting COVID and keeping them out of school during this new school year at a time when many students still need to catch up.
