Why California Could Be Changing

The deadly and devastating wildfire tragedy in the Los Angeles has already led to fiery debates over what to do to prevent it from happening again.

But the fires also have ignited an already existing crisis about a problem that could change California unless something is done about it.

The loss of thousands of homes in these fires and the huge challenge in rebuilding has made even hotter, the concern about the cost of housing in California.

With the supply of new homes and apartments in San Diego and elsewhere in Southern California being low, the average price of homes has reached nearly one million dollars and rent has soared in recent years.

And now, both the cost of homes and rent in San Diego and elsewhere in California, could go higher after the fires, with the major insurance companies not offering fire coverage.

According to an analysis this week, all Californians are probably facing higher premiums next year making it even more expensive to live in the already most unaffordable state.

As this analysis says, as insurance premiums and housing costs rise, both current and prospective homebuyers face possible impossible choices….absorb the skyrocketing costs or move to another area or even leave the state of California all together.
