How to Be Prepared When You Are Told You Have to Go

Brush fires are part of life here in California and we’ve certainly had our share here in San Diego County over the years.

Recent ones, like the Springs fires Thursday, have been smaller ones, but we’ve had large ones too in years past.

And just as you heard Cal Fire officials tell us during our coverage recent fires, it is important to always be prepared.

The terrible flash flood in Texas has even prompted Cal Fire to remind all of us again of the need to be prepared for natural disasters.

In fact during our coverage of the fires this week, on the Conway and Larson the show, the questions came up that often come up when we have fires.

What’s an evacuation order vs an evacuation warning and do you have a “go bag” always ready and what’s in it.

You see when fires do break out and anyone who has lived here for any length of time knows that when fires break out and start spreading, there is no time to think about then.

You just have to go when those evacuation orders are issued.

Something to maybe think more about…especially as we head toward the usually hotter and more windy weather in the months ahead.
