Living in San Diego, where the weather is better than other parts of the country., you may not know it, but the hot weather we are having can affect our physical and mental health.
Whenever temperatures get up into the high 80s and the mid to upper 90s, you hear all the warnings about being sure to drink lots of water and being careful about too much strenuous activity outdoor.
But some research says hot weather also affects our mental health….specifically our moods, our emotions and even our actions.
Some studies say hot weather can cause people to feel more angry, frustrated or irritable. A study of seven U.S. cities not that long ago found as temperatures rise, there are more crimes committed.
And it’s not surprising that one of San Diego’s TV stations did a report this week on increases in road rage incidents.
Some climate change activists say Southern California has been heating up with temperatures up three degrees on average than 100 years ago.
That would mean we may have to living with more heat waves from time to time even if we do live in a place with America’s finest weather.
