Thousands of San Diegans were still without power on Friday, after high winds prompted power safety shut-offs on Thanksgiving Day.
As of midday Friday, the number of customer outages was down to 2,500. At one time on Thanksgiving Day, there were more than 5,000 customers affected the power shutoffs in the county, all in inland communities accordng to the SDG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs website.
The outages were planned power safety shutoffs “due to unsafe conditions in the area". A Red Flag Warning that went into effect early Thursday morning was set to expire at 6 p.m. Friday..
