Free Job Training for San Diego Residents

SAN DIEGO - In the wake of the great recession which was spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic several free programs are helping adults in San Diego get into some new careers.

Carrie Lewis is the Interim Director of Health Care Careers at the San Diego College of Continuing Education and tells reporting partner 10 News getting a certificate from one of their programs can help increase pay, especially during this demand for health care workers.

"When instead of 15 dollars an hour they can make 25, it’s a big change in San Diego where basically you need to be making 36 an hour to be able to afford an apartment," Lewis said.

The school offers other job training programs in office administration, welding and more. All of the classes are offered free of charge to "San Diego" residents.
