SAN DIEGO - The Navy identifies the sailor found dead aboard the USS Carl Vinson.
22-year-old Darren Collins died just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday aboard the aircraft carrier at Naval Air Station North Island. The Information Systems Technician 2nd Class was a native of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, who joined the Navy in 2019 and was assigned to the Vinson in 2020.
The Navy is investigating Collins' death, but has said it does not appear to be a suicide and there was no indication of foul play. The ship's psychologist, chaplains and counselors are providing support to crew members.
