SAN DIEGO - August 29th marks the beginning of the Fall Semester for tens of thousands of kids in the San Diego Unified School District.
Students are returning to full, in-person instruction without a long list of COVID restrictions. High school junior Sofia Taviau tells NBC 7 ditching the mask requirement is a plus for her.
“I’m excited because I don’t have to wear a mask anymore or not as much and I get to see people’s faces,” said Taviau.
The district lifted the mask requirement after the CDC moved San Diego County back into the medium risk level for COVID-19 infections. Overall, kids are excited to get back to campus to learn and to make new friends.
Start times for Middle Schools in the San Diego Unified School District will be no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and no earlier than 8:30 a.m. for high schools to comply with a new state law.
