South Bay Residents Concerned after Teen Shot

SAN DIEGO - Residents in one South Bay community are concerned after a teenager was shot after leaving a party.

That shooting on Palm Avenue in Otay Mesa West early Sunday morning sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital with what's being considered non-life threatening injuries. Those shots rang out in front of the home of Juan Perez.

"I don't know what was going on but someone came here and -- pop pop pop – shot one of these individuals and he was laying down here and we had to wash it up, it was all full of blood," Perez told NBC 7.

Perez says the number of parties ending in violence in the area is a big concern.

Police say the shooting happened after a party was broken up in the neighborhood and then an apparent argument broke out between people leaving that party. The Chula Vista Police Department has noted an uptick in violent crime in the area.

San Diego Police are investigating the shooting and so far no arrests have been made.
