LAKESIDE - Reports of attempted kidnapping in East County were unfounded.
That's according to a release from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Wednesday, which also said there is no threat to the community. The alleged incident was reported Tuesday when a group of boys apparently told officials at Lakeside Middle School that a man in an SUV apparently tried to grab one of them.
The report of the alleged incident caused concern among parents and students in the community, with some parents saying they would be talking to their kids about what to do in these types of situations.
