SAN DIEGO - A former San Diego State football player accused of raping an underage girl is now in more legal trouble.
Nowlin "Pa'a" Ewaliko, who is originally from Seattle, turned himself in to authorities and was booked into the downtown central jail on one count of possession of child pornography. Ewaliko was among former Aztecs football players, including punter Matt Araiza, who were investigated as a part of gang rape allegations stemming from an incident at a house party in the fall of 2021. The San Diego County District Attorney's Office ultimately decided not to pursue criminal charges in the case, but a civil lawsuit has been filed.
During the course of that investigation, San Diego Police opened a separate investigation after finding child porn in Ewaliko's possession after serving a number of search warrants, which were recently unsealed. The case was then turned over to the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and has since been considered unrelated to the gang rape allegations.
Ewaliko's lawyer is not commenting on the matter.
