SAN DIEGO - The woman badly injured after be shot in the face with a bean bag is talking about her legal victory against the City of La Mesa.
Leslie Furcron settled a civil suit with the city for $10 Million, stemming from injuries she sustained during protests at the La Mesa police department in 2020. Her face has been disfigured and she says she's in constant pain.
"I don't think it was enough, but it's good enough," Furcron told NBC 7. "There's really no amount of money that you could give me ... I just wish that it never happened. I thank God that I'm living. But every day is not a good day for me."
Furcron admits to throwing the empty can in the direction of officers, saying she was fed up with police brutality after the death of George Floyd.
La Mesa Police Officer Eric Knudson shot Furcron with a bean bag round from a Sheriff Deputy's gun, but that gun has never been identified. The officer never faced charges and has since been promoted to detective. Furcron's attorney says the D-A and the Attorney General should be looking into whether Knudson should still be an officer.
