A 12-year-old boy was killed and four other people were wounded late Friday night just before midnight when gunfire broke out during a large party at an abandoned house in National City. Police responded just before midnight to 1003 "N" Avenue, where they found a crowd of over 100 teens and young adults in the home. Police found five victims, all males. Four of the five victims were under the age of 18
Police say social media posts were used to draw people to the party. Police were still looking for the shooter or shooters.. The four people who were wounded were reported to be in stable condition.
National City Police issued the following news release Saturday:
"On 11/15/24, at about 2349 hours, NCPD Officers responded to reports of “shots fired” at 1003 ‘N’ Avenue in National City. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that multiple people had been shot. The crime scene was an abandoned house that was being used for a large party. Due to the number of injured persons combined with the large number of partygoers and reports that the suspects were still on scene, mutual aid was requested. Officers from SDPD, CVPD, SDSO and Harbor Police responded to assist. Officers learned the suspect(s) had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Four individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals. Despite lifesaving efforts, a fifth person was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives are continuing to investigate.
