A Navy investigation has found human error led to a military jet crashing into San Diego Bay last year.
The February 12th 2025 incident involved an E/A 18G Growler, whose two crew members safely ejected during a training exercise.
The report finds the crew was using unfamiliar software that triggered warnings during aerial refueling. Investigators also found the pilot and electronic warefare officer struggled with a wet runway and tailwind while attempting to land at Naval Air Station North Island.
The jet could not slow down, forcing an aborted landing and resulting in a loss estimated at 109-million dollars.
