110-Year-Old Train Trestle In Del Mar To Be Replaced

Money has been advanced to Del Mar, so the city can begin construction on a new train trestle bridge.

The funds are from Sandag, and will act as a down payment to ensure construction will begin next year. The plan is to replace the 110 year old wooden San Dieguito River Railway bridge, and add a mile and a half of double track, so trains can pass.

An events platform for passengers at the Del Mar Fairgrounds will also be constructed.

The project is expected to cost 350-million dollars, and is fully funded by a temporary half cent sales tax approved by county voters.
