Two deputies at the Vista Detention Facility have been handed multi-week suspensions after an inmate death.
Investigators say they failed to conduct required safety checks and act when an inmate showed signs of medical distress. That resulted in the death of Bobby Ray Patton Jr. in December of 2024.
Earlier this month, the Citizens Law Enforcement Review Board found that both deputies engaged in criminal conduct and referred the case to the District Attorney’s Office for potential prosecution.
