The 111 year old La Jolla Rec Center could be closed, as San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria trys to balance the city's budget.
According to the city, it would save $231-thousand dollars a year, but that's a small percentage of the $118-million dollar deficit the mayor is trying to close.
The center dates back to 1915, and was a gift to the city of San Diego from newspaper tycoon Ellen Browning Scripps. The one stipulation was the building would always remain a community center.
If it is shut down, the property could revert back to the Scripps Family Trust, reports Fox 5.
