An Oceanside boy who survived a cardiac arrest has reunited with the first responders who helped save his life.
The emotional meeting took place at Rady Children’s Hospital, where eleven-year-old Amadeo Gonzalez continues his recovery months after collapsing during a soccer practice.
Firefighters, paramedics, and hospital staff who responded during the emergency were recognized for their role in helping the boy survive.
Medical officials say quick action by first responders and specialized care at the hospital were critical to the child’s recovery. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the boy’s family with ongoing medical costs.
