I am at work today. As a matter of fact, I am working two jobs today. I will be doing my usual job, co-hosting San Diego's Morning News with Ted Garcia. Then, this afternoon at 2 pm, I will be hosting a talk show on WHO in Des Moines, for my friend Simon Conway. My day started at 1:30 this morning, and it will end at 5 this afternoon.
I am working today, because I have a job to do, and I like doing it.
I don't see the point of a "Day Without a Woman," but if you do, then feel free. Wear red. Go march. Yell and cry. Whatever floats your boat.
I'll be over here, doing my job, because that is what I was hired to do. It is reasonable for my boss to expect my rear-end to be in this chair, unless I have taken some time off. Which I did. I had a nice long weekend, so it would feel a bit gratuitous to take a Wednesday off because I have indoor plumbing and a red dress I don't wear often enough.
Some of the ladies I work with DID take the day off, and I fully support their absence.
I just have a different way of looking at it.
I make more money than most of the men I work with, and less than others. But I set my worth.
I prove everyday, that I am worth every dime I make.
I am not protesting because I don't have anything to protest. I am not protesting, because I signed a contract that was negotiated by an expert, and gave me most of the things I wanted.
I am not protesting because I know I am paid what I am worth.
