A wrong way crash killed two people in Oceanside early Friday morning. It happened around 2:00a.m. on the 5, where CHP says a car was heading north in the southbound lane near Mission Avenue. That car slammed into another car head-on, and one of the vehicles caught fire.
One of the drivers, a woman, was found unresponsive in the road. Another person was killed. No names have been released, and police are still investigating the cause.
CHP says three non-injury crashes happened in the area following that initial collision. The crashes prompted a SigAlert, and the road was closed for several hours.
