Three Survive a Crash Landing in Otay Mesa

Three people aboard a small plane survived a crash landing of the aircraft Wednesday morning in a dirt lot near Brown Field Airport in Otay Mesa. 

The plane flipped over but the pilot and two passengers were on board walked away from the plane and there was no report of a fire.  Authorities say the three people walked 15 minutes to the airport to get help.

There was no immediate word on what caused the pilot to land suddenly.

According to the plane's tail number as relayed by emergency responders, the aircraft was a 1971 Cessna 182P, a fixed-wing, single-engine plane with four seats, and according to aircraftdomain.com, the plane was registered to an individual in El Cajon.
