Two Dead In East County Plane Crash

Two people were killed when a small plane crashed Tuesday morning in Santee. It happened just before 7:00a.m. as the plane took off from Gillespie Field in El Cajon.  Minutes later it turned around, lost power and crashed in a construction yard.

Santee Fire Chief Richard Smith told KOGO News that both people on board were killed. Two dogs on the plane were injured, one critically. The dogs were taken to an animal hospital.

In an emotional interview, a witness to the crash, Zachary Hill, talked to KOGO's Cliff ALbert News to describe what he saw when the plane went down. Listen to his interview below.
