Oceanside Approves Drone Killer

North County city is the first in the county to approve new technology that can take down drones. Once Oceanside city leaders hammer out the details, police say they will begin using the Drone Killer immediately.

They asked for it after a drone disrupted fire fighting efforts in last December's Lilac Fire. That little drone grounded water-dropping aircraft and it's not the first time. The Drone Killer can target a drone up to a half-mile away and can disable the device with a pull of the trigger, forcing it to land or sending it back to its home base.

The US Military is currently testing the device and the company, based in Yorba Linda, is donating one to the Oceanside police department.
