A tortoise found wandering in El Cajon today is now at the animal shelter waiting for its owner to claim it.
Paramedics from American Medical Response came across the tortoise near Emerald and Washington streets. It was "possibly suffering from a little "shell shock" according to El Cajon City Spokeswoman Monica Zech.
The Heartland paramedics strapped their find into a gurney and transported it to the El Cajon Animal Shelter. It has been checked out and now can be claimed by its owner.
