Violent Pedophile Could Be Released Into Jacumba Hot Springs

A state hospital board is recommending a sexually violent pedophile be placed in Jacumba Hot Springs.

In 1981, 57 year old Alan James was convicted of a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 and was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation.

Five years later, he was convicted of multiple sex crimes involving children: child molest, forcible child molest, unlawful sexual intercourse, kidnapping for purpose of child molest, and unlawful touching, with three minor victims. These crimes occurred in San Diego County.

He was sentenced to 28 years in prison and was then committed to a state hospital.

Three different times since 2014, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office opposed Mr. James' petitions for conditional release while he was still undergoing treatment and which did not have the support of the hospital.

Now the hospital says he can be released .
