A Christmas Miracle in Florida

There always seems to be stories we hear about at this time of year that can brighten us up.

And just the other day came the story of a 13 year old girl in Florida with autism.

Diagnosed when she was 3 years old Kaitlyn…neurologists told her mom that she would be non-verbal for all of her life.

Her mom told TODAY Parents. "I refused to accept that."

But Kaitlyn has never managed to say more than two words at a time — until one day earlier this month.

It happened in front of a Christmas display she has been taken to every year for most of her 13 years.

The home of a neighbor named Don Weaver who decorates his front lawn with a musical Christmas display with more than 200,000 lights and he even provides a special chair for Kaitlyn.

Her mom says she and her daughter see it every year and stay for hours. But this year was different.

For the first time, Kaitlyn started talking and singing.

Her Mother quotes her as saying,

‘Mom! Look at the blue lights. Look at the snowmen. Santa’s coming,'”

Her mom saying, “I started crying. I couldn’t believe it."

Don Weaver and other neighbors who were watching couldn’t believe it either.

But at Christmas time, miracles do happen.
