Daniel J. Paul, Daniel F. Michelon Pando, David M. Ryan, Kevin T. Park, William R. Mummy, Ryan H. A. Oliveira and Michael L. Murphy, members of Scouts BSA Troop 654 of the San Diego-Imperial Council of the Boy Scouts of America, have earned the honor of the Eagle Scout rank.
The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement of leadership within the Boy Scouts of America. Less than 4 percent of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor.
All Eagle Scouts must successfully organize and fulfill an Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project which benefits their school, church, or community in addition to holding several leadership positions and earning at least 21 Merit Badges of which 12 are required and 9 are elective.
Daniel J. Paul is a sophomore majoring in Aerospace Engineering at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering. He led a project which built a new planter and retaining wall at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Daniel F. Michelon Pando is a sophomore at the University of Chicago and a prospective double major in Economics and Computational and Applied Mathematics. He led a project constructing a free-standing cabinet for musical instruments for Rancho Bernardo High School.
David M. Ryan is a sophomore studying Data Science at the University of California, Riverside. He led a project building work benches for the Del Norte High School Robotics Club.
Kevin T. Park will be a freshman at Cal State Maritime Academy majoring in International Business and Logistics. He led a project building an arbor and gardening table for a local Poway community garden.
William R. Mummy is a senior at Poway High School and plans to attend UC San Diego pursuing studies in the Bio-Medical field. He led a project installing a solar powered radar traffic sign to calm traffic on the St. Michael's Catholic Church campus.
Ryan H.A. Oliveira will be a freshman the University of California Berkeley with a major in Chemical Engineering. He led a project constructing a garden bridge at Cathedral Catholic High School.
Michael L. Murphy is a senior at Cathedral Catholic High School and plans to major in Aeronautical Engineering at a UC campus, the United States Air Force Academy or Embry Riddle University. He led a project installing permanent benches on the St. Michael’s School campus.
The Court of Honor ceremony honoring them will take place on August 6, 2021 at 6 PM in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Holy Family Center located at 15410 Pomerado Road in Poway. The San Diego-Imperial Council of the Boy Scouts of America serves the community, its youth members and volunteer leaders through Scouting units in San Diego and Imperial counties of Southern California, as well as a portion of Arizona
