North County Schools Placed on Lockdown Given All Clear

Several schools in the Poway Unified School District in San Diego County were placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon for about 90 minutes after an anonymous phone threat.

In an email to parents and a message on Twitter, the district said Del Norte High School and at least five elementary or middle schools were placed on lockdown.

The district said that "in an abundance of caution, the police have placed us on lockdown while they investigate an anonymous phone call threat." The message went on to say "we want to assure you there is no evidence of actual physical threat present on our campus."

The Sheriff's Department and the school district issued an "all clear" about 2:15 p.m. and classes were being dismissed at the regularly scheduled times.
