A former San Diego State University police sergeant has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison.
Prosecutors say 47 year old Paul Aurelio McClain of Menifee will also be placed on supervised release for 20 years following his sentence.
He's been in custody since March of 2025 after federal agents discovered digital files involving minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says investigators were led to McClain from a peer-to-peer network used to distribute and download sexually explicit content involving children. McClain is a married father of three children.
