A second school in the Poway Unified School District has tested positive for mold.
Black Mountain Middle School in Rancho Peñasquitos is reporting visible mode in at least one classroom. The district says it was discovered by the principal before classes started on August 13th.
The district says the classrooms were re-cleaned, but a musty odor persisted and an independent industrial hygienist was called to collect air samples from all rooms in the affected buildings.
Preliminary results showed low levels of mold spores in eight classrooms and high levels in six. Classes have been relocated. Mold is also being addressed at Del Sur Elementary School.
