Three People Killed In Traffic Crashes Identified

Authorities have publicly identified three people who were killed over the last week in San Diego-area traffic crashes.

The most recent of the crashes claimed the life of an 80-year-old woman in Rancho San Diego, the county Medical Examiner’s Office reported. Evelyn Buangan Castro of San Diego was a passenger in a car that collided head-on with another vehicle on Willow Glen Drive near Jamacha Road shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, according to the agency. Buangan Castro was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital about an hour later.

A day earlier, 47-year-old Sergio Lopez of San Ysidro was mortally injured when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a parked vehicle on Palm Avenue, the medical examiner reported. Paramedics took him to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

About 8 p.m. Saturday, Juan Nieto, 50, was fatally struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Prospect and Woodside avenues in Lakeside. He died at the scene. The agency did not say where Nieto had lived.
