A border patrol agent has pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with the shooting of an unarmed driver in Calexico four years ago.
Agent Marco Andrade appeared in Federal Court in San Diego Monday. He was indicted last week by a Grand Jury.
According to reporting partner 10 News, Andrade was trying to pull over the driver of a minivan he suspected of smuggling undocumented immigrants. It turns out the driver was not smuggling anyone, and did not have a weapon.
Andrade is accused of pulling up next to the minivan, getting out, and firing eight shots.
