A proposal to encourage housing projects in California's downtown areas is being supported by San Diego mayor Todd Gloria.
The bill, from Assembly member Matt Haney would promote dense, high rise development near transit through a state loan program.
"We already exceed many of the densities in this bill" Gloria tells KOGO News. He also says a similar loan program in San Diego helped fund two thousand housing units.
The bill would also provide faster permits for projects that work with organized labor groups.
