Chula Vista Mayor John McCan says this has been a big year for his city.
“This is Chula Vista’s decade. We have proven that our mission is possible,” McCann said during Tuesday night's State of the City address.
McCann touted economic growth along the bayfront, including the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center. “A milestone project that has generated thousands of permanent jobs, tourism, and will create long-term economic impacts for our city and our region,” McCann said.
The city remains safe, and well funded for the foreseeable future according to the mayor. “We’ve maintained a balanced budget, strong reserves, and quality services with no layoffs and no parking fee increases,” McCann said, perhaps taking a slight dig at recent parking fee increases implemented by San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria.
