A strong El Nino is now forming in the Pacific, but we still don't know what the impact will be on San Diego later this year.
"We're going to see a strong El Nino, maybe one of the strongest we've seen recorded" says Meteorologist Alex Tardy, found of Southern California Forecaster "Weather Echo." He says it could be "bigger than 1982/83 , '97/'98...maybe stronger more warming than those years."
The ocean temperatures are just warming now, so the impact of the El Nino will likely be in the late Fall and early Winter.
What we don't know is how much rain this weather system could bring to the San Diego area, or exact locations that could experience higher than average rain and snow totals.
