Why Baseball is Like Real Life

Wait till next year. That’s what most San Diego Padre fans are saying this week.

Needless to say it has been an extremely and surprising disappointing year for our MLB team. One writer for Sports Illustrated calls their season an “epic failure.” And most fans would probably agree.

After spending a ton of money and loading up their lineup with some of the best players in baseball, the Padres were picked by pretty much every baseball expert to not only make the playoffs, but also a good chance to make it to the World Series.

But as things turned out, it’s not happening. And the impossible to explain reasons for their poor performance may never be able to be explained.

But Padre fans are not the only sports fans who are disappointed.

Along with the Padres, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, had the other highest payrolls in Major League Baseball and also were expected to play in the postseason playoffs.

But all three teams will now be watching the playoffs on TV instead of playing in them. All three teams have certainly proven one thing, spending the most money on players doesn’t guarantee success.

The old adage about money alone not being able to buy happiness is apparently as true in baseball as it is in life.
