An Eighth Grader Representing San Diego at the National Spelling Bee

Benjamin Reinhard, an eighth grader at Maranatha Christian Schools, is headed to D.C. to compete against 246 other spellers in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The 14-year-old was named the 2026 San Diego County Regional Spelling Bee champion in March, after winning his first-ever competition.
