The Story Behind KOGO's 'Bethlehem Report'

We have brought you the news this week about the town of Bethlehem and Christmas celebrations being cancelled due to the war.

So it is a good time to once again go back 2,000 years to the first Christmas. That’s the idea behind what is a San Diego radio tradition called The Bethlehem Report.

KOGO’s news team goes back in time to report on the breaking news developments of what happened that night in Bethlehem.

We tell the story as if it is happening now, with our reporters on the ground in Bethlehem, describing an unusual star, interviewing shepherds, the innkeeper, and residents.

You will hear the familiar voices you listen to every day on KOGO, including LaDona Harvey, Ted Garcia, Dan Mitchinson, Lucinda Kay, Marty Golingan, Jack Cronin, Phil Farrar and others.

This is the 40th anniversary year of the first presentation of the Bethlehem Report on San Diego radio. Our listeners tell us every year that they listen to it with their kids.

And that’s why you will also hear the voices of the eight grandchildren of my wife and I during this unique Christmas program, including our youngest, who provides the sounds of the little baby in the manger.

The Bethlehem Report airs at 6 o’clock Sunday night, Christmas Eve, on KOGO and is available as a podcast:

And all of us here at KOGO, wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a New Year filled with Good News.
