Reasons for Fewer Office Holiday Parties

Since the pandemic, office holiday parties have been on the decline. In these recent years, many businesses say they don’t have those big bashes they used to for years.

They cite the expense and they point to many people still not wanting to bunch up with too many people who still worry about COVID and other viruses that are always out there.

And some employers say the workplace has become different since the pandemic. While many offices now have most employees working at the office, there are still many who work from home or a mix of working at work and working from home.

Some businesses say they also see more employees who don’t want to hang out with the people they work with. Some employers say the younger generation of workers are more concerned about being with family more than partying with co-workers.

According to a report by Axios this week, the share of companies hosting any kind of holiday party has been declining for many years, dropping from 90-percent 20 years ago to less than half this year according to a new Harris poll.

But with or without an office party, a lot of people you talk to are saying they’re more in need of more of the Christmas spirit. With the kind of divisive political year we’ve had, we probably all can relate to that.
