You’re trying to burn off all those calories from turkey day, and you don’t want to just spend the day shopping. So, here’s what’s going on.
The CIRCUS is still going on in Parkway Plaza in EL CAJON.
At the Belly Up Tavern in SOLANA BEACH, you can enjoy the soul/jazz stylings of local legends THE GREYBOY ALLSTARS, with Karl Denson on sax. They’ll be there Saturday, too.

There’s lots of soccer this weekend. On Friday, the SAN DIEGO SOCKERS play their opening match against the Empire Strykers at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside.

SAN DIEGO FC defeated Minnesota on Monday and are now in the Western Conference finals. They’re the first expansion team in MLS history to do this. You can cheer ‘em on at Snapdragon Stadium against Vancouver Whitecaps. You can hear the game on San Diego Sports 760.
Real fighting in the ring happens in TEMECULA. Manny Pacquiao is bringing his son to town for some boxing matches at Pechanga.

For laughs, comedian NATE JACKSON will be at the Civic Theatre DOWNTOWN.
SUNDAY –
Two terrific San Diego bands will perform at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. The roots/rockabilly band THE PALADINS, who have been rockin’ since the ‘80s, will have a new band with an amazing horn section – THE TIGHTEN UPS. They’ll have special guest LAURA CHAVEZ, the local I think is the best living blues guitarist (sorry Buddy Guy).
In Streaming, the big news is…
The fifth and final season of STRANGER THINGS is back on Netflix (November 26).
At the Movies…
ETERNITY: One of my all-time favorite movies is “Defending Your Life.” Albert Brooks plays a schlub who dies. To get into heaven, he has to go to court to defend his actions during his lifetime. He meets Meryl Streep there and falls in love. I was reminded so much of that movie while watching this. Elizabeth Olsen is good in it, but who I enjoyed just as much was Da’vine Joy Randolph. She plays a sassy woman who shows Miles Teller the ropes. He’s died and now has to choose where he will spend his “eternity.” Does he want to spend the rest of his days suntanning on the beach in a tropical paradise, or skiing and hiking in snowy mountains … the possibilities are endless. You see the TV commercials, fliers, and posters for various eternities (and you’ll laugh at each one you see). Oh, he also gets to decide who he wants to spend his eternity with. That’s an easy one. His wife is still alive, but she has terminal cancer. Won’t be long until she joins him. But wait – we saw them fighting a lot early in the movie. And, she also had a first husband she was married to briefly before he died in the war. Maybe she’ll want to spend her “eternity” with him. Let the hijinx ensue. The commercials showed you this was going to be a romantic comedy, but it’s so much funnier (and more romantic) than you can imagine. I’m not going to ruin it by telling you any of the jokes. It does have a nod to Casablanca, which was fun. I laughed, I cried, and I thought about this movie for days afterwards. After the screening of this, I decided to go to a second screening they had because I enjoyed it so much. The two friends I brought with me loved it as well (so did my wife). It’s one of the best movies of the year. 5 stars.
