Reckless Driving Blamed for I-15 Big Rig Crash

The CHP says reckless driving led to the second big rig crash in two days that caused miles of traffic backups Wednesday afternoon. It happened in the southbound of lanes of I-15 north of Friars Road.

The CHP says a person behind the wheel of an Infiniti G35 was driving recklessly just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when they hit another car and then the semi. The crash caused the big rig to overturn and the fuel tank ruptured.

Diesel fuel got into the storm drain, but not the waterways, and the cleanup efforts lasted for nearly 12 hours before the full southbound 15 was reopened at 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
